Since 1259, the castle of Moncassin has been located on a Lot et Garonne peak. It was a private fortified residence with a farm and a wine cellar where the neighboring farmers could take refuge during insecure periods, by allowing the farmers to live in autarky. From the XII century, the successive owners of the castle were of course important people belonging to the nobility like the Lords of Foix, of Pins, of Lupiac, of Montlezun and Albret families. Moncassin's Lords were well known for their belligerence... After a big fire in 1865, the castle has been restructured in a « Renaissance » style by Sigalas Lur-Saluces families and it started to ressemble what it is today. Since 1965, the Delmotte family has taken the castle's destiny into their hands, looking after the castle and the wine cellar, taking care of lands and grapevines and always keeping in touch with estate's history , never forgeting the young generation, sense of taste, gastronomy and tradition cultures.
